Cervicothoracic/TMJ: Clinical Reasoning, Evaluation, and Clinical Management

Course Dates: October 30 - November 1, 2026 This three-day course provides an evidence-informed, clinically integrated approach to the examination and management of individuals with cervicothoracic and temporomandibular disorders. Emphasis is placed on clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis, patient safety, and application of current clinical practice guidelines and decision-making frameworks for neck pain and related conditions. Participants integrate relevant anatomy and biomechanics with patient history, examination findings, functional assessment, and outcome measures to classify clinical presentations and guide individualized management. Cervicothoracic content addresses examination and intervention for neck pain and associated impairments, including headache, with particular attention to screening, precautions and contraindications for manual therapy and manipulation, and considerations following cervical spine surgery. Temporomandibular content emphasizes examination and management of temporomandibular disorders and their relationship to the cervical region, incorporating appropriate disability assessment and clinical decision making. Laboratory experiences develop competency in examination procedures and the selection and application of evidence-based interventions, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular and movement-based approaches, and patient education.
