Lower Extremity (Foot and Ankle; Hip and Knee): Clinical Reasoning, Evaluation, and Clinical Management

Course Dates: December 4-6, 2026 This three-day course provides an evidence-informed, clinically integrated approach to the examination and management of individuals with hip, knee, ankle, and foot pain and dysfunction. Emphasis is placed on clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis, regional biomechanics, and application of current clinical practice guidelines and decision-making frameworks to guide evaluation, classification, prognosis, and individualized intervention. Hip content addresses osteoarthritis, nonarthritic hip joint pain, soft tissue injuries, and postoperative conditions; knee content includes ligamentous injury and instability, meniscal and articular cartilage disorders, patellofemoral pain, postoperative rehabilitation, and injury prevention; and foot and ankle content integrates regional anatomy and biomechanics with the examination and management of conditions including ankle sprain, Achilles tendon pain, heel pain/plantar fasciitis, and postoperative presentations. Participants integrate patient history, physical examination findings, movement and functional assessment, and evidence-based outcome measures to guide clinical decisions across the lower extremity. Laboratory and applied learning experiences emphasize the selection and progression of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular and movement retraining, injury-prevention strategies, patient education, and functional rehabilitation to support return to activity and participation.
